Avian Flu guidance

A number of deceased birds have washed up on beaches across North Ayrshire and it is suspected that they have been infected with Avian Flu.

Our Streetscene and Waste Disposal services are currently working to remove these birds from the areas and safely arrange for safe disposal. However, it is possible that dead birds could be found out-with coastal areas, our what to do if you find deceased birds toolbox talk gives some advice on what to do if you come across a dead bird.

If you come in contact with wild dead birds and develop flu like symptoms, please contact your GP or NHS 111 and advise of the full circumstances.

For more information or advice please contact Health and Safety on 07825964994.

Although rarely affecting humans, more information on Avian Flu can be found on the NHS website here: Bird flu – NHS (www.nhs.uk)
