Council’s free holiday school meals club is back

The Council’s free holiday school meals and activities programme is returning to a North Ayrshire community venue near you this summer, so please help to spread the word!

Taking place throughout July, the programme provides a lunch for eligible families and a load of fun and games.

All families eligible for free school meals based on low income, will also receive the direct cash payment for the entire summer holiday period (£2.05 per weekday, per eligible child/young person).

As part of this summer’s programme, pupils can come along to their local participating community centre to catch up with their friends, enjoy a tasty lunch and take part in some fantastic free activities as the programme returns this summer break.

For more information on participating community venues, opening times and contact details visit: https://www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/school-meals/holiday-school-meals.aspx

Carolyn Hope, Senior Manager Facilities Management said: “The team is delighted to be offering this initiative over the summer. With the current Cost-of-Living crisis, we recognise just how difficult the holidays can be for some families so we hope our programme helps as many people as possible during the holidays.

“Our holiday club programme is for those who have an assessed eligibility for free school meals based on low income. It is not for pupils who are part of the universal free school meals provision (however, if these pupils are attending their local club with friends, the community venue staff will welcome them).

“A big thanks once again to our community partners for their support in helping us deliver the programme.”
