Occupational Health – Pre-employment referrals

It’s now over three months since the new online portal to make all Occupational Health referrals went live on 1 March. At the same time, the process to initiate pre-employment health questionnaires changed – recruiting managers are now responsible for making this referral for all preferred candidates.

A few pointers to consider if you are involved in making referrals on the Portal:

  • For those of you involved in recruitment, remember to make the pre-placement referrals for all preferred candidates – even for internal applicants that are moving post or location. Doing so makes sure that any reasonable adjustments required can be identified due to changes in health circumstance since previous checks, or requirements of the new post.
  • If you are creating an account to make referrals on MyOHPortal, you must use an individual email address for your account – shared email accounts are not allowed. This is due to the confidential nature of referrals and outcome reports, which would be available to everyone that has access to a shared email account.
  • If you are making a referral on behalf of a manager for any type of referral, you must include the actual manager as an additional manager, to provide confirmation of the requirement and ensure the manager has access to any outcome reports.
