The long-awaited return of the North Ayrshire Staff Association Golf Day took place after an absence of two years!
Rather fittingly the Trophy has been renamed in honour of our great friend and colleague Gordon Craig. Gordon, a former Chairperson and one of the original founders of NASA, as well as an avid golf fan arranged the NASA golf day with military precision until his retirement.
Following the usual light-hearted banter over the morning coffee, the day started with great optimism for all involved as they set off on their morning seven holes.
Organiser Gareth Picken said: “A good day was had by all, and I personally witnessed some great golf shots during the day.
“Thanks to everyone taking part and making it a memorable day, and one we can build on next year! I would like to give a special thanks to Gordon’s wife Margaret, and daughters Fiona and Heather for their generosity and for presenting the trophy to our winner.”
This year, the morning 7 hole warm up was made a little more competitive by way of a team Texas Scramble event. Five Teams fought it out for the spoils with some very tight scoring despite the unexpected rain. The eventual winners of The NASA Golf Day 7 Hole Shootout Trophy were:

After the 7-hole shootout the opportunity was taken to have some lunch. Stevie Cuthbert adopted a new tradition and celebrated with two lunches, not that he knew he had one at that point, but it set him up nicely for the afternoon round.
The rain by now had abated, and the 23 participants made their way to the course to do battle with a renewed sense of confidence, and a full belly. The joy, pain and anguish was plain for all to see within their respective groups, as the sun shone down, but after a gruelling 4 hours there was one that stood proud above the many.
