Great fun was had at Vikingar!, as the Largs visitor attraction celebrated a revamp with an epic open day on Saturday, April 6! 🔥⚔️

Tours of the Viking Experience were fully booked throughout the day and visitors also enjoyed free entry to the theatre auditorium and winter garden.

Through the open day, visitors were treated to a mini Viking village, re-enactment performances, trade stalls, storytelling and activities including a K:A Leisure Valhalla gym challenge Special guests also included Amber Othala, The Society of John De Graeme, Clan Hunter and the Largs Viking Festival.

The action packed event during the Easter break (see highlight pics in this article), was organised by KA Leisure to celebrate the recent refurbishment at Vikingar – also known as The Battle of Largs Heritage Centre.

Enhanced Viking tours

The Viking Experience tours, now with an enhanced audio visual offering, run daily, every hour on the half hour, from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Accessible and offering fun and intrigue for all ages, visitors to the main exhibition will experience what it would have been like to live a day in the life of a Viking. They will also be able to try on replica helmets and under supervision, hold swords and axes.

Once inside, visitors are taken back in time to an eighth century Norwegian longhouse with a Viking Guide. You’ll hear fascinating tales about what life was like back then, all about Viking culture and the story behind the Battle of Largs…

You can purchase tickets when you arrive, at least five minutes before the tour begin – however you should call ahead to check availability during term time as mornings and early afternoons can be very busy with school groups. For more information visit the Vikingar! website.
