Temporary closure of front facing services

North Ayrshire Council is to temporarily close public access to Bridgegate House and Saltcoats Town Hall from this evening (Thursday, 9 December 2021).

In light of the latest Scottish Government advice, the increase in Covid case numbers and the risks posed by the latest variant Omicron, the Council feels that the safest option is to temporarily halt public access to the Customer Services Centres in Irvine and Saltcoats.

North Ayrshire Council leader Joe Cullinane said: “The safety and wellbeing of our residents and our staff will always be of paramount importance.

“We understand that residents may be frustrated however we have alternative ways to access our services.

“This is a temporary measure to ensure we do all we can to keep case numbers low, protect each other and protect the NHS during the challenging winter period.”

The Customer Service Centres at Bridgegate House and Saltcoats Town Hall will close for public access with effect from close of business today (Thursday, 9 December 2021).

Alternative methods of contact will still be available through a face-to-face appointment system for Registration or by calling 01294 310000 or e-mailing contactus@north-ayrshire.gov.uk

This will remain the case until at least the middle of January 2022 and will be reviewed at this point.

All other Services will continue to operate in line with the current service delivery provision.

The decision has been taken following the latest advice from the Scottish Government that employers should ask people to work from home where possible to do so.
