Win prizes by cycling during Bike Week (10-16 June)

Bike Week is fast-approaching and our Travel Smart team are ready to giveaway a host of prizes for staff willing to hop on their bike!

Bike Week is an annual celebration of cycling, in partnership with Cycling Scotland and Cycling UK, with the aim of encouraging more people to cycle more often.

Cycling is a brilliant way to help our bodies and minds stay healthy, helping us to get outside and active.

If you already cycle, why not encourage others to cycle during Bike Week? Offer to cycle a route with a friend or do a short, easy spin to give them some confidence…

North Ayrshire Council’s Travel Smart programme looks at how we can reduce your carbon footprint, save money and improve health within the workplace, but also throughout everyday life.

To find out more about cycling routes locally and how the team can support your cycling journey, visit the Trinity Active Travel website.

Prizedraw Activites Bike Week 2024

Have you recently got a new bicycle but your old one is taking up room in the shed? Well, the Equal team will happily take it off your hands if you’re willing to donate it…

The latest project from the Equal Programme is the Equal Community Bike Scheme.

Equal work with those with long term health conditions which prevents them moving forward into employment.

Programme Manager, Linda Ford shares: “This project allows for intensive cycle maintenance training for a group of our participants who will all gain Velotech Cycle Maintenance Qualifications and SQA accreditation for Customer Service and Responsibilities of Employment.

“The trainees will refurbish old unwanted cycles bringing them back to roadworthy condition and the cycles will then be offered, free of charge, to members of our community who cannot afford to buy a new cycle.

“These can be used for leisure, for getting to and from school or work, and will hopefully help encourage a healthy lifestyle.

“But, we need your help – the team need your bike donations! If you have an old bike that you no longer use and you’d like to donate please contact us now and we can arrange collection.”

The Equal Programme is a supported employment service that guides people across North Ayrshire into work and training.

It comes under the banner of North Ayrshire Council’s employability service’s Your Next Move, Working North Ayrshire programme. The team offers a wide range of tailored support to get people back into work, start work for the first time or take a step up the career ladder.
