The Ayrshire Equality Partnership is inviting staff to attend an informative webinar designed to increase understanding of hate crime in Scotland and the legislation that helps protect individuals and communities from prejudice and discrimination.

Taking place on Friday 23 October 2026, from 10.00am to 11.00am via Microsoft Teams, the session will provide an overview of what constitutes a hate crime in Scotland and explore the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021, which came into force on 1 April 2024.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about:

  • what is considered a hate crime in Scotland
  • the purpose and key provisions of the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021
  • how the legislation applies in practice
  • the importance of recognising and responding appropriately to hate crime

This webinar is open to all staff and the session aims to promote awareness, encourage discussion, and support a better understanding of the protections in place for people who may experience prejudice or discrimination.
