Volunteering provides the perfect opportunity to meet-up and re-connect outdoors. So why not take advantage of the council's Volunteering Policy and find an opportunity for your team?

Whether you're welcoming new colleagues to the team, miss your colleagues who work from home on different days or simply want the chance to give back to our community and spend valuable time together outdoors, the upcoming Get Re-Connected volunteering sessions at Eglinton Community Gardens and Eglinton Country Park are the perfect remedy!

Gardening activities with Ranger Linda

There is always work to be done at Eglinton Community Gardens, from erecting polytunnels, to preparing ground for growing, constructing raised beds, to planting out. It all depends on what our volunteers are needing help with but, there's never any shortage of healthy activities to get stuck into!

Available dates are as follows (each session takes place from 9.30am until 12.30pm)

Tackling invasive species with Ranger Graeme

Balsalm bashing sessions - volunteers wanted! Spend the session down by the river, removing the invasive plant Himalayan Balsam. Old clothes, waterproof trousers and sturdy waterproof footwear recommended as it can get wet and muddy depending on weather.

Managers should book these half day events direct with the Countryside Ranger noted in the event information.

Not only does each activity provide employees with an opportunity to give back to their local communities but it also allows teams to ‘Re-Connect’ which may be helpful due to due to remote working, to welcome a new member of the team and to provide an opportunity for team building, whatever the reason why not disconnect for a few hours and Re-Connect?

On completion of the Get Re-Connected day we hope everyone involved feel fulfilled not only with their volunteering contribution to our communities and environment but that it supports their overall wellbeing.

These days are recorded on CHRIS as part of our overarching employee volunteering programme which allows for up to two days a year per employee.
