Global IT shortages

We have been advised by HP of ongoing global shortages affecting key device components, specifically RAM and storage.
This issue is being driven by the rapidly increasing demand for specialised hardware to support the expansion of AI data centres, which is placing significant pressure on the global supply chain for memory components.
As a result, HP are experiencing extended lead times, and devices that would previously have been available within standard delivery windows are now subject to notable delays. In some cases, delivery times may extend well beyond usual expectations.
What this means for you
- orders may not arrive within the required timeframe, even if placed immediately
- availability of certain device specifications is limited, and alternative configurations may be required
- early ordering is strongly recommended to minimise operational impact and avoid further delay
Actions required
- please ensure you submit new device requests as early as possible
- allow extra time when planning device replacements, onboarding, or project-related hardware needs
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as the supply position evolves.
If you have any urgent requirements or would like to discuss options, please contact IT Services via Hornbill.
