Take on a work experience placement

To support young people to make decisions on future career pathways, inspire their future careers and to promote the wide range of North Ayrshire Council jobs, the Employability team, part of Working North Ayrshire, are looking to increase the number of Council-based work experience placements available for pupils from North Ayrshire schools.
This will be delivered in partnership with Developing the Young Workforce located within the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce.
The team believe you could offer an inspiring workplace, the benefits for your service will include:
- helping young people develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge for future employment and providing an insight to our workplace
- inspiring young people that employment with North Ayrshire Council is a good career opportunity, promoting careers within your service
- workforce planning and future talent acquisition
- providing development opportunities for existing employees to mentor, supervise and support the young people
- promoting a Council that is Fair for All, supporting community links and opportunities, by investing in young people
To pledge a work placement opportunity, you will be required to provide the following information:
- the team(s) hosting the placement and the mentor/supervisor
- the job role(s) the young person will focus on
- anticipated tasks to be completed as part of the work experience placement
- how long the placement will last (one full week / once a week for an agreed duration)
- working hours and days of attendance – limit to 40 hours a week (including meal breaks)
- ensure that risks are controlled before the placement starts using the Risk Assessment Guidance
To offer a placement, complete the Microsoft Form. The deadline for requesting to supporting a young person via a work experience placement is Friday 28 August.
