Rehabilitation of Offenders and Conviction Disclosure training (February)
The Community Justice Ayrshire Partnership and Apex Scotland are running a Rehabilitation of Offenders and Conviction Disclosure training course on Wednesday 25 February from 9.30am to 4pm at the Lochshore Hub in Beith.
The aim of the course is to improve the knowledge and confidence of practitioners who support individuals impacted by the justice system or criminal convictions, enabling them to provide basic support and guidance.
The session will cover:
- an overview of the relevant parts of the Scottish Justice System
- the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act
- Disclosure Scotland and background checks
- supporting those with criminal convictions
- advice and guidance for employment or other destinations

Fuel poverty and energy efficiency training (February)
Energy Action Scotland are providing energy efficiency training to enable a range of organisations in Scotland to provide appropriate and effective advice and information, limited spaces book now!
Due to the high demand, our Energy and Sustainability team have shared an update on extra spaces now available for the upcoming Energy Efficiency and Fuel Poverty training delivered via Mircrosoft Teams.
Monday 23 February: Stay Warm, Stay Well training - book now!
The course is delivered in two sessions. Part 1 is delivered from 10am to 12pm and part 2 is delivered from 2pm-4pm.
Wednesday 25 February: Stay Warm, Stay Well training - book now!
The course is delivered in two sessions. Part 1 is delivered from 10am to 12pm and part 2 is delivered from 2pm-4pm.
Places on the one day course are limited and on a first come, first served basis.
The course will cover:
- introduction to EAS and the Stay Warm Stay Well
- fuel poverty – causes and effects
- cold damp homes and health impacts
- condensation dampness
- energy efficiency
- heat loss in the home
- paying for fuel and fuel debt issues
- sourcing help and effective signposting
- tariffs and switching
Each session consists of a PowerPoint delivery followed by a Q&A session. Participants must attend both Monday or both Wednesday sessions to be eligible to receive a certificate for Continued Personal Development (CPD).

Mental Health awareness webinar for managers (Thursday 5 March)
Delivered by PAM Wellness, the session is designed to support managers in understanding and promoting mental health and wellbeing within the workplace, and will cover the following:
- common workplace mental health conditions
- key symptoms and contributing factors.
- practical strategies to promote wellbeing and support employees
- guidance on confident, compassionate conversations.
The session will be held on Microsoft Teams on Thursday 5 March from 1pm to 2.30pm. You can book your place online.
Learning disability awareness training (March and October)
Places are available for staff on the following dates for Learning Disability Awareness training. Please consult with your line manager before booking your place online. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
This course is aimed at staff from outwith the Learning Disability service who may have contact with service users with a learning disability.
The following dates are available:
- Thursday 26 March: Cunninghame House (Lochshore & Seagate Room, 4th Floor Training Suite), 1.30pm to 4.30pm
- Thursday 8 October: Cunninghame House (Lochshore & Seagate Room, 4th Floor Training Suite), 1.30pm to 4.30pm
This course aims to:
- Raise awareness of Learning Disability
- Increase knowledge of health issues
- Identify challenges facing people with LD
- Highlight communication issues / barriers
- How to access services and supports

Adult Support and Protection training calendar (January to March 2026)
Free Adult Support and Protection (ASP) training is open to individuals and partner organisations, see the sessions coming between now and March 2027 in the ASP training calendar. To register a place, email ASP training. All staff working for North Ayrshire Council have a legal responsibility to report their concerns, if they know or believe an adult is at risk of harm. Would you know what to do, if you had concerns?
The team offer a wide range of courses some focusing on the legislation and how it works in practice, to ones which highlight how to spot specific harms like financial (or economic), sexual, self-neglect, hoarding and more. Level 1 is the usual level for all out with the Health & Social Care Partnership.
Financial harm awareness training: This event - taking place on Tuesday 3 March 2026 (9.30am to 12:30pm) is delivered via MS Teams. provides attendees with the knowledge to recognise financial harm and refer those who meet the appropriate criteria for Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 to the North Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership. It is a mixture of Facilitator input, group exercises and case studies. Applicable for any staff from any Sector wishing to learn more about Financial Harm.

NEST February workshops
Each month, NEST will offer a variety of workshops focused on neurodivergence, including practical strategies to support you in your role. The following workshops are taking place throughout February.

- Tuesday 17 February: Introduction to Anxiety - join the wait list at Centrestage, Kilmarnock (10am until 12pm). The workshop will be aimed at those looking for an introduction to anxiety and some practical strategies for family life. We will provide some general information about anxiety, look at the impact on functioning and share some self-help strategies for families to try.
- Tuesday 17 February: Introduction to Sensory Processing - book now at Ayrshire College, Ayr Campus (10am until 12pm). Would you like to learn more about sensory processing? This workshop will be delivered by the Children and Young People's Occupational Therapy service for parents and carers.
- Thursday 19 February: Introduction to ADHD - book now at Clark Memorial Church, Largs (10am until 12.30pm). Would you like to know about ADHD? This workshop offers you the opportunity to learn more about ADHD and its impact on all aspects of a person’s life?
- Tuesday 24 February: Virtual session Introduction to Autism - register now on Teams (6pm until 8pm). Would you like to know more about Autism? This workshop provides attendees with an opportunity to learn more about autism and communication. The workshop aims to provide opportunities to share experiences, strategies and approaches to help individuals understand autism.
Online session for student unpaid carers
As part of this year’s National Student Money Week, Social Security Scotland will be delivering an online Student Carer Information Session on Wednesday 4 March from 12pm to 1pm.
Carer Support Payment eligibility was extended last year to include certain carers in education. This includes part-time students, full-time students aged 20 or over, and students under 20 who are in advanced or higher education. Many student carers are not aware that they may be eligible for extra money.
The session may be of particular interest to students balancing their studies with caring for a family member, friend or neighbour. It may also be of interest to colleagues providing support and advice to student carers.
This free session, hosted on MS Teams, will include:
- Overview of Carer Support Payment
- Carer’s Allowance Supplement changes
- Introduction of Carer Additional Person Payment
- How Carer Support Payment and Young Carer Grant interact
- Ways to apply and help available

Moving and handling information sessions for carers and families
Safety is paramount when caring for someone who requires the use of moving and handling equipment, so we’re offering families and carers the opportunity to attend a free Moving and Handling information session at Castleview Hub in Ardrossan on one of the following dates:
- Wednesday 18 February (9.30am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.30pm)
- Tuesday 17 March (9.30am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.30pm)
- Thursday 23 April (9.30am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.30pm)
- Monday 18 May (9.30am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.30pm)
- Wednesday 24 June (9.30am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.30pm)
These will cover the use of profiling beds, hoists and slings, slide sheets, commode chairs and more. Staff within the facility are trained in line with the Scottish Manual Handling Passport.
Carers can book a place by calling 07385 399 746 and leaving a message with their name, the date they’d like to attend, and whether they want to attend the morning or afternoon session. Please note that there are ten places available for each session, which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
