Staff awards event celebrates a decade of support
The Woodland View at 10 – Exceptional Service and Recognition Awards were held on Wednesday 2 September at Ayrshire Central Hospital in Irvine, celebrating a decade of support, compassion and progress from the people who make Woodland View what is it.
The event marked 10 years since the opening of Ayrshire’s integrated mental health facility and community hospital, which brought together a full range of outpatient and inpatient services in a modern, purpose-built facility shaped around the needs of patients, staff and visitors - ensuring every space supports wellbeing, care, independence and recovery.
Nominations for the awards were received from staff, current patients and their carers, with the exceptionally high standard making the shortlisting process extremely difficult for the judging panel.
Speakers included Thelma Bowers, Head of Service for Mental Health at North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership; William Lauder, General Manager of Ayrshire Central Hospital, and North Ayrshire Provost, Councillor Anthea Dickson. The event was compered by Julie Barrett, Associate Nurse Director, North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, with certificates and trophies presented by Professor Gordon James, Chief Executive of NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

Outstanding Clinical Practice Award
Celebrating individual frontline clinical professionals who consistently deliver outstanding care, demonstrate excellent clinical judgement, and go above and beyond to improve outcomes and experiences for patients and families.

Clinical Team Excellence & Impact Award
Celebrating the clinical teams that consistently demonstrate exceptional teamwork, leadership, and commitment to person-centred care.

Runner Up: Woodland View Pharmacy Department
Behind the Scenes Hero Award
Shining a spotlight on those behind the scenes, whose contribution is essential to the safe, effective and compassionate running of Woodland View.
Winner: Maureen Miller

Volunteer Excellence Award
Recognising the vital role played by volunteers at Woodland View, who bring positivity, compassion, and humanity to the lives of those who use our services.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran and North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership would also like to take the opportunity to thank wider staff and partners of Woodland View for all of their exceptionally hard work over the past 10 years, as well as everyone who took the time to submit a nomination, the judging panel, guest speakers, and those who attended on the day.
